What is EGLD Staking?
In a nutshell, staking your EGLD on the MultiversX blockchain is a safe and secure way to help you earn more EGLD while helping MultiversX further secure their already very secure blockchain. The more EGLD that you stake, the less that is freely available, further driving up the value of the world’s most advanced crypto.
When you stake, your EGLD is controlled by a smart contract but you never lose ownership of it. No staking agency, nor MultiversX, nor anyone but you own YOUR EGLD.

How do I stake my EGLD with ApeStaking?

Why didn’t I get any rewards today?
The scenario: I was expecting to get rewards, i have my EGLD staked with you, and didn’t see any rewards hit my wallet. Is something wrong?
No, this is by design. There will be days when no rewards are issued to a node on the MultiversX Blockchain. There is a random element to when any and every node within the blockchain is actively participating in “consensus”. This randomness all but eliminates the ability of bad actors to gain a 51% advantage within the blockchain and potentially allow them to impact our security and the sanctity of transactions.
The nuts and bolts of the design are simple: The MultiversX blockchain is run by a decentralized group of specialized servers (called nodes) spread around the world. Only a subset of these nodes are active and earning rewards at any one time, and nobody knows ahead of time who will be active. At the end of each “epoch”, or daily cycle, the nodes are shuffled and 20% are pulled out of active duty and placed into a waiting state for period of 5 days after which time the node is reactivated. So this also means that each node also has an 80% chance of continuing to produce rewards.*
Statistically, this will balance out to each node generating rewards about 50% of the time. This holds true for every agency, and there is no advantage to hopping around hoping to attach to one agency that is showing a larger APR. There is a 10-day unstaking period if you want to move your staked EGLD and you do not earn during that period. Further, the APR for each agency is constantly changing.
It makes no difference if you stake with a large agency or a small agency. With a small agency you may experience days with no rewards. This will happen less with a larger agency with many nodes, but understand that within the larger agency, there will be many nodes also producing no rewards, and YOUR active staking will be subsidizing those with inactive staking, thus you will earn less. In the end, we ALL will tend toward the same APR, so just ape out, stake and hodl!

Do you manage my money or my rewards?
The entire staking process is managed by an “on-chain” smart contract that is entirely automated. ApeStaking.com neither controls your EGLD, nor can we manage it, move it, re-invest it. We act as secured gatekeepers for you to be able to manage this yourself.
Can I get my EGLD back?
Your staked EGLD is absolutely yours! You can reclaim it at any time, via the same process you used to stake it, but this time tapping the unstake button. It takes 10 days to unlock your stake, and this is by blockchain design, not due to ApeStaking.com management.
Other staking agencies show better APR, why?
ApeStaking, like all staking agencies on the MultiversX blockchain, has no control over actual APR. This instead is the result of a carefully designed system that maximizes security by way of randomizing when any agency’s node(s) actively participates in running the blockchain. Nodes only produce rewards when active within the blockchain. This randomness ensures that no bad actors can impact the network.
The mathematical design of the system will smoothen out the variation in APRs such that each node will move toward the ~14.5% APR for those who delegate their EGLD.
The APR is not as advertised, why?

Can I lose my EGLD?
Your EGLD is safely ensconced when staked with MultiversX. Short of a worldwide calamity, you can sleep soundly at night knowing you are earning almost 6.5-75% interest on your staked EGLD. Compare that to a bank! (updated feb-2024)
Why do I have to wait 10 days to get my EGLD back?
If you decide to unstake your EGLD from the MultiversX blockchain, by design, you must wait 10 days before it becomes available. This is not under the control of the agency, but set within the infrastructure by MultiversX. This helps stabilize the network, reduces flipping around from agency to agency chasing APRs, and helps the agencies maintain staking levels.
